The on-call service in Bayreuth is organized by GEDIKOM on behalf of the KVB. It is intended to provide you with medical assistance in the event of acute illnesses, even outside normal consultation hours, on all days of the year.

Opening hours of the Medical Office: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.. On weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

There are four emergency hospitals in the region.
Klinikum Bayreuth GmbH with its two sites Hohe Warte and Klinikum, its clinics, specialist centers and the outpatient center (with the various specialist departments) is a hospital of the “maximum care level” in Upper Franconia and an Academic teaching hospital of the University Hospital Erlangen.
At the Bezirkskrankenhaus Bayreuth, people with psychiatric and psychosomatic illnesses of all ages are treated on an outpatient, day-care and inpatient basis. Patients receive optimal medical care in three independent specialist clinics.
Sana Klinik Pegnitz GmbH is a basic and standard care facility in the southern part of the Bayreuth district. Approximately 6,000 patients are treated as inpatients at the site each year.
Specialized clinics for medical rehabilitation are the Herzoghöhe Clinic Bayreuth, the Höhenklinik in Bischofsgrün and the MediClin Rehazentrum Roter Hügel.
Foreigners and EU citizens in Germany need health insurance and must register with a health insurance company. Private and statutory health insurances are possible.
With the insurance card of a health insurance company you can use medical services all over Germany. On the back is the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). With it, you are also well covered in all EU countries as well as many other European countries and even some non-European territories.
EU citizens who do not have a job in Germany can only register with a statutory health insurance fund if they have previously been a member of a statutory health insurance system.
Otherwise, EU citizens need private health insurance. This is usually also an option for people who do not come from an EU member country and do not have a job in Germany.
